[Post begins here] I was suddenly reminded of this song by 杨千嬅. No idea how but it just came to my mind. Liked this song a lot when I first heard it over the radio. However, that would be the chinese version of the song called 大城大事. I do think that the cantonese version has more meaningful lyrics though. In fact, there seems to be quite a few versions of this song. But I believe mostly covers and I would say the best cover would be the one by 张学友. Undoubtedly one of my favourite singers. He sings with so much of what we like to call "feel" and his rendition of this song is of no less with regards to the emotions he inputs into the song.
Think I wouldn't go ahead and translate the lyrics though I think I roughly understand. Well, don't really know cantonese so I try to make out the meanings by looking at the lyrics which are in chinese. Though I have this difficult, I still feel that it is not much of a barrier. Somehow, I just have this liking for cantonese songs.
Life is now really boring. Too late for me to go looking for a part-time job since I am guessing I would most likely be enlisting in June. Leaving me with a month or so to work if I do get a job. Huge disadvantage. Staying at home is a drag too though. Household chores are just left for me to do. Either way, it's bad.
Hoping and waiting for a glimpse of hope that NTU would send a letter of acceptance which I am now starting to feel that it will hardly be possible. Self-pity and thinking of stuff like "If only I worked harder..." are just pointless though. I guess if I don't make it this year, I would try again next year.
A closure. Another issue seems to be in need of that. [Post ends here]

Sleep and Dreams
For the past few weeks, it has probably been the most number of times I went to watch a movie in the Cinema. For me at least, since I don't usually do that. But the shows have been great. Edmund and me came up with a genre called Moral Movies after Jayson, Edmund and me watched Gran Torino yesterday.
Have to apologise to Edmund and Jayson for getting all pissed off at the mention of some stuff. It's better to not explain but it's definitely not what you guys might be thinking. Sorry guys.
Had a very wierd but, hmmm, enjoyable(?) dream. In the dream, I met this girl who has got nerdy looks but looked very cute (or maybe I am just attracted...LOL). Clearly, there was a name and we were going to some dinner and she was my date. Then I just woke up and forgot her name and how she looks like. That's one thing I really hate about dreams. Why is it you always wake up with a vague impression of it but you are sure it was like in High Definition TV or something along those lines? And what do they mean anyway? Or is your brain just overclocking? And here's the worst part of everything, it's like a one time thing and you would most likely never ever get the same dream again. In this case, I don't think I might ever see that girl again. Actually, I suddenly realised. Whether it could have been some person whom I have encountered before. Oh well, I might never ever know.
Seems like it will be another trip down to the cinemas later. DETROIT METAL CITY!!! For now, brunch.

Documentaries on YouTube
Well, I guess you can say that I have been very free ever since after SCC Concert, but for no particular reason, my interest in certain topics rekindled while searching for stuff to watch on YouTube.
As some of you might know (and think that I am crazy for), I'm sucker when it comes to conspiracy theories and challenging some of the so-called facts. So, I ended up finding my way to a documentary about the secrets behind the US one dollar bill which, if you didn't know, hints to the Freemasons and the New World Order(not the wrestling one). And then on, documentaries about whether we did land on the Moon, Leonardo da Vinci, Sir Isaac Newton and incidentally, Jesus Christ.
The one on Leonardo da Vinci wasn't really much on the Da Vinci Code but more of a history of the great man. If you only thought that Da Vinci was an artist, then you are dead wrong. He is probably the greatest genius to have graced the Earth. He was an inventor, anatomist. Some of his ideas were truly revolutionary. It sets you wondering how could the mind of a single man in the 15th Century come up with things which only appeared in the 20th Century. If his ideas were realized, he could have possibly been the first to create tanks, diver suits, gliders and even a robot. It's truly amazing.
Sir Isaac Newton. We all know him as a great scientist and mathematician. Came up with the laws of gravity, etc. But did you know, he was also an alchemist and a heretic. Pursuit of the legendary Philosopher's Stone and deducing of when the Apocalypse / Judgement Day is to come. The first he failed, but the second he succeeded. And it is believed that it will come in the Year 2060. Believe it or not, up to you.
And finally, the son of God, Jesus Christ. In all due respects, I do not intend and have no intentions to denounce Christianity or anything along that lines. Just some input on my own. This really started after reading Da Vinci Code. After reading it, I always felt that there is this close similarity to Buddha and Jesus Christ. And yes, a short period of time, I did get to come into contact with the Bible. It was interesting. I do believe that there were teachings which were quite similar in some ways. Some things happened along the way, I got a pretty bad impression of stuff and I more or less stopped going. So, watching this documentary (which I still am), the theory which I came up with was pretty much made stronger. In fact, there are even similarities with Hinduism. Especially, the similarity between the birth of Jesus and the birth of Lord Krishna. I was pretty much amazed and I found it very intriguing.
Everyone's going to have their own views, especially when it comes down to Religion and other sensitive things. It just isn't something that is up for open talks. In fact, some things which I have heard, I seriously doubt that the person would dare say it openly. I was not hurt personally, but it just seemed very unbelievable and to me, potrayed a rather "shut-off-from-others" mindset. To be honest, I have tried talking about conspiracy theory and some of the stuff above but somehow, have always been given the "You are crazy lah...interested in this kind of stuff" face from people. Hopefully, someday and someone would be willing, interested and less defensive about discussing this topics with me. It's a wish, a pretty far off one I guess. Well, back to the documentaries!
[Post begins here] A good GPA for my final semester is pretty much the only thing that tops the list of good things to happen. Scoring 3.64, my personal best result in polytechnic. Quite a shocker but I am really happy.
Gala dinner was ok. It's a closure.
Ought to really get down to looking for a part time job, can't survive the way I am doing now.
The Killers - Mr. Brightside Coming out of my cage And I've been doing just fine Gotta gotta be down Because I want it all It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss It was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed Now my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she's touching his chest now He takes off her dress, now Let me go
I just can't look It's killing me And taking control
Jealousy Turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes I'm Mr. Brightside
I'm coming out of my cage And everything just fine Gotta gotta be down Because I want it all It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this? (It was only a kiss) It was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking a drag Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she's touching his chest now He takes off her dress now Let me go
I just can't look It's killing me And taking control
Jealousy Turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes I'm Mr. Brightside
I never I never I never I never I never
[Post begins here] I want to jam this song someday. Anyone game for it? Always wanted to but that idea got refreshed after watching the Goodfellas perform it. They are one heck of a good band. Lovely performance.
Nothing much to be blogging about. It's probably been an awful day in many ways. None which can be shared. It's this wierd paranoid feeling and not owning up to what I truly feel about stuff. Oh well, just let things be and maybe they will work themselves out. Sometimes, somethings are just better left unexplained and untold.
老实说,我从来就没想过“怕受伤”这回事。是不是我不太认真? [Post ends here]

Johnny Cash - Hurt
Johnny Cash - Hurt I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything
What have I become My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns Upon my liar's chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair Beneath the stains of time The feelings disappear You are someone else I am still right here
What have I become My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt
If I could start again A million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way
[Post begins here] Nice song by the legendary Johnny Cash. It's actually a cover of the original version by Nine Inch Nails, but the song just seems to have such a different feel. The original version is great too. Also, it's a good example how the difference of lyrics can bring about a different meaning in the song which I think was done quite well in this case.
Pretty much nothing going on. Still yet to get myself to go look for a job. The only stuff which lightens my mood is really the ongoing Mosaic Festival. Went down yesterday with Fun, Greg and Winston. Great band, the Funkers. Upon Winston's suggestion, we even took a photo with them (which Winston conveniently did not join by being the cameraman).
A lesson clearly shown yesterday. You must make sure you get friends to be at the show if you are doing songs which are quite high. Also, your friends must be those who are willing to just dance away like nobody business. Now...that's cool.
So, tomorrow will be another trip down for the performance by the Goodfellas! Seen them at Timbre. Can't wait to see them perform tomorrow. And we ought to take a photo with them. I LOVE MOSAIC FESTIVAL!!!

Damien Rice - Volcano
Damien Rice - Volcano don't hold yourself like that you'll hurt your knees i kissed your mouth and back that's all i need don't build your world around volcanoes melt you down
what i am to you is not real what i am to you you do not need what i am to you is not what you mean to me you give me miles and miles of mountains and i'll ask for the sea
don't throw yourself like that in front of me i kissed your mouth your back is that all you need? don't drag my love around volcanoes melt me down
what i am to you is not real what i am to you you do not need what i am to you is not what you mean to me you give me miles and miles of mountains and i'll ask for the sea
what i give to you is just what i'm going through this is nothing new no no just another phase of finding what i really need is what makes me bleed and like a new disease she's still too young to treat
volcanoes melt me down she's still too young i kissed your mouth you do not need me
[Post begins here] After listening to Rootless Tree by Damien Rice, randomly listening to his other songs. This song caught my attention. I personally find the lyrics really nice.
Finished watching another Super Sentai Series - Engine Sentai Go-Onger. Currently, watching Kamen Rider Decade and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. This japanese shows just rock. LOL. At least they keep my mind free of useless thoughts for the time. And they keep me happy.
A song just caught my attention. And it's really easy to play. Maybe the next video for the next post. [Post ends here]

Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
Keane - Somewhere Only We Know I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river and it made me complete Oh simple thing where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know?
Oh simple thing where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know?
[Post begins here] Heard the above song when watching the movie "He's Just Not That Into You". It's a nice and funny show. It's wierd though, I tend to wonder how movies are being given their ratings recently. No matter how I think about it, it doesn't really seem like it should be a PG show. But anyway, good show.
After the movie, met up with the Funksters and Kent. We headed to Esplanade for the Mosaic Music Festival. Jazz was the theme for yesterday at the Outdoor Stage (Nokia Music Station). Great music! To top it off, we got to see an All Star Jam consisting of Mike Stern. Usually, you would have to pay to watch him. But we were in luck. Our butts just stuck on our seats for 3 hours plus. But it was worth it. Probably will be going back down on Thursday to watch Shao's teacher's band, the Goodfellas perform. Then, maybe on Friday, since I will be out with Yi Xian and Zhao. Not forgetting Saturday, cause SEAN and SHANNON are performing! MOSAIC FESTIVAL ROCKS!!! [Post ends here]

Maroon 5 - Better That We Break (Cover)
Maroon 5 - Better That We Break I never knew perfection till I heard you speak, and now it kills me Just to hear you say the simple things
Now waking up is hard to do And sleeping is impossible too Everything is reminding me of you What can I do?
It’s not right, not OK Say the words that you say Maybe we’re better off this way? I’m not fine, I’m in pain It’s harder everyday Maybe we’re better off this way? It’s better that we break…
A fool to let you slip away I chase you just to hear you say You’re scared and that you think that I’m insane
The city look so nice from here Pity I can’t see it clearly While you’re standing there, it disappears It disappears
It’s not right, not OK Say the word it should say Maybe we’re better off this way? I’m not fine, I’m in pain It’s harder everyday Maybe we’re better off this way? It’s better that we break
Saw you sitting all alone You’re fragile and you’re cold, but that’s all right Life these days is getting rough They’ve knocked you down and beat you up But it’s just a rollercoaster anyway, yeah
It’s not right, not OK Say the words that you say Maybe we’re better off this way? I’m not fine, I’m in pain It’s harder everyday Maybe we’re better off this way?
I’m not fine, not OK Say the words that you say Maybe we’re better off this way? I’m not fine, I’m in pain It’s harder everyday Maybe we’re better off this way? It’s better that we break, baby
[Post begins here] Apparently, Maroon 5 doesn't have a music video of this song. Managed to find a video of someone who covered it. This guy is good! And the song is one heck of a great song from Maroon 5.
I believe the first week of holiday(for me, since there was concert) is almost over. The cough is still here and I am once again out of medicine. No idea what to do next. Maybe just cough until I die or something. LOL. One thing's for sure, I want to go to the music festival tomorrow and I WANT TO HAVE A CUP OF ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA LATTE FROM COFFEE BEANS!!!
Been thinking. Isn't it wierd how sometimes in life, something you don't really want just keeps coming to bug you and you just can't seem to get what you truly want? Retribution? Maybe. It really sucks to think of how you seem to be moving but you really aren't. Sucks more when you can't seem to convince yourself of the above as you have before. It's frustrating. Somehow, it just always seems to be neither here nor there, and the next thing you know, you are in the middle of nowhere. Oh well, Reality. Someday...Maybe.
Gigs could be on the way for YAKUZAsour. YAKUrock will not be dead afterall. Edmund is finally fired up once again. I can't wait. It's time to test the waters outside and see if I will 'drown'. [Post ends here]

Damien Rice - Rootless Tree
Damien Rice - Rootless Tree what i want from you is empty your head they say be true, don't stain your bed we do what we need to be free and it leans on me like a rootless tree
what i want from us is empty our minds we fake a fuss and fracture the times we go blind when we've needed to see and this leans on me like a rootless...
so fuck you and all we've been through i said leave it it's nothing to you and if you hate me then hate me so good that you can let me out let me out of this hell when you're around
what i want from this is learn to let go no not of you of all that's been told killers reinvent and believe and this leans on me like a rootless...
so fuck you and all we've been through i said leave it it's nothing to you and if you hate me then hate me so good that you can let me out let me out of this hell when you're around let me out...
and fuck you, fuck you, i love you and all we've been through i said leave it it's nothing to you and if you hate me then hate me so good that you can let me out let me out... it's hell when you're around
[Post begins here] A song of pure raw emotion. The lyrics don't tally with the video which I am posting since it's one of the Live from Abbey Road(which totally rocks), but who cares?! It's one heck of a song.
Sean was singing it during rehearsals. I guess it was the "Fuck You" that caught my attention. After asking Fun to show me the MV for the song, I browsed around and saw this version of the song and I just I got hooked. The lyrics really brought out the emotion in the song. And Damien Rice...GOD-LIKE!!! It's wonderful how he was able to bring about such a different feel to the song.
Earlier in the clubhouse, sang the song while Greg played it. Greg said that he felt the sadness when I was singing it. I personally think I still lack the touch and feel for the song. But honestly, it felt damn good to sing it. I could feel that raw, pent up emotion coming out in the words that I sang. I was happy to say the least.
It's all over. Still sick though. Went to see a doctor earlier in the week. I thought it would only be cough but the doctor said that my throat was also swollen. Somehow, survived past the concert. Still coughing like crazy, and with no medicine left to eat, mum nagged(and nagged...) for me to go see a Chinese Sinseh. The Chinese Sensei said that my pulse is very 细 and asked if I was sleeping late recently. Well, of course I have been. More medicine to take. Finally, maybe I can rest... [Post ends here]
